....the second time around.....

This is me and our jack-o-lantern for this year. It didn't turn out quite like we were expecting. We were trying to make a "girl" pumpkin, so we were going to carve eyelashes. As you can see, after carving one on the very right hand side of the right eye, we realized it would look awful, so we just left them penciled in with marker. Oh well, she is still cute.

This is the second Halloween in a year that Dave and I have carved a pumpkin together. I have realized lately that we are getting to that point real quick....doing things for the second time. This will be our second Thanksgiving together, our second Christmas, we just started our second year as members at First Baptist.

I can remember laying in my pink room when I was little and thinking about growing older and it scared me. The world really scared me for a long time...and it still does....I don't think I will ever not be anxious about what is to come. Thankfully I have the Lord, his promises, his grace, his protection, and his love, and I know that as long as He is on my side, there is nothing that can stand in my way.

As we approach the second time for so many special things together, I am comforted knowing that not only do I have the Lord by my side, but I have Dave too. I guess this growing up thing isn't to bad.

Anyway...just some Saturday morning thoughts. Be blessed!

Maybe next time you try making a girl pumpkin, attach the eyelashes to the eye, kind of like this. It's not the best example, but it's the only one I could find. I think putting the eyelashes a little more on the side of the eyes would be better than the way they did it. But you're right, your pumpkin is still cute. :) She makes me think of Raggedy Ann.

I'm glad you're on your second time around! And you're right, the world is a lot less scary when you have your best friend by your side.

Hey Sweetheart,
This pic makes me want to give you a big hug! Miss you, love you! Perhaps one halloween you and Dave and Pam and I can carve pumpkins together. That would be great fun.
Love,
Dad

I may not have a "best friend" anymore but I certainly have a wonderful family, and an amazing "Protector"...

You are so photogenic, Karen! You need a wedding picture of you and Dave posted to your profile!

Love you tons...I think jimr75's comment is priceless!

Hi Karen, Lydia's friend Leanna here. I commend you for your and Dave's pumpkin adventures. We had "pumpkin" centerpieces at our wedding. It was the new fake pumpkins...those things are HARD to carve. So good for you with sticking with the traditional.

And here's to many more firsts, seconds and so on...

Isn't it amazing how quickly time goes by! I love your thoughts and I'm so thankful for the blessing you and Dave have in each other.

This is a random question, but do you and Dave have the books "power of a praying husband"/"power of a praying wife"? I was just reading a review of them and they sound really great...
