Look What I Made!!!

My first sewing project!
Now, I know that the fabric isn't much to write home about, but it's a pillow nonetheless, and a good one at that! This past weekend Dave and I went to visit the Sapps, long time family friends of the Norvells. Raymond Sapp played guitar in our wedding, and his wife, Donna, is dean of the Fashion Design department at the Art Institute of Dallas. In other words, she sews really well. Just a few weeks ago she did some alterations for me on a bridesmaid dress that I ripped the zipper out of, and it looked like new. I was getting frustrated teaching myself how to sew, so she kindly worked with me for a few hours and toward the end helped me make this pillow. She said once I learned this basic home decor, I can do many things. It's really small, less then one square foot, but too cute. I wish I had a little girl puppy to let lay on it.

Among other things, Donna taught me about seams and never leaving raw edges exposed. I also learned how to sew a button hole! Next time we go over, which is Friday, she said to bring some fabric and a pattern for some pajama pants and she would help me work through it. I can't wait!

In other very strange news, I must share my dream last night. Lately I have gotten somewhat addicted to celebrity gossip. I love to read all the blogs out there that report on all the happenings and doings in Hollywood. Anyway, all this seems to be rubbing off on me because last night I had a very vivid dream that I was best friends with Britney Spears. She came to Texas for vacation and ended up coming through my line at Starbucks. We hit it off and then later that day we hung out together. I took her to some get together or something with some friends, but no one else wanted her there. We ended up going back to this secret house she had. She said she bought it a long time ago under a different name so she would have someplace to go where no one could find her. In my dream the walls in the living room were painted bright pink with white trim and crown molding and she had all black and grey furniture. Very modern. She ended up asking me to come see her perform next month in Las Vegas, and then I woke up. I think I will lay off the celeb gossip for a while.

Dave had his first day of 5th grade this morning. I will let him blog about it at weeks end. For now, you can just gaze at the picture of the most perfect pillow ever made.

The pillow is very cute and your dream was indeed very strange. Although Britney could probably use a good friend like you.

Very odd dream about Brittany Spears indeed. :)

Hope Dave has a great beginning to the school year.
