Calvin's first week

My first week has been very eventful. Once mom and dad were settled in the recovery room of the hospital, I had many visitors.

This is Brooks and Pierce Beckmann. We're all going to be buddies in the future. I can foresee lots of play dates and church functions that we will spend together.

This is Ronelle Tallant and Amanda and Cliff Kapka. They are some of mom and dad's best friends from church. I know they will be like second parents to me and will be a big part of my upbringing. Ronelle is due to deliver my best friend, Alexander, in October!

After a few days in the hospital, mom and dad got to take me home!
Mom and Dad were very emotional when they packed me up in the car. They said they weren't nervous about being home with me, they just loved me so much and were so excited to be beginning a new part of their lives as my parents.

When I got home there were even more visitors!

This is Brooke and Patrick Christensen. They are very good friends of mom and dad's from college and have known my parents for a very long time. I'm sure they will also be around alot as I grow up.

I was very excited to meet the rest of my family at home, too.
Auntie Sarah
Grandpa Walt
 Auntie Rachel
and cousin Connor. There was also uncle Mike and Aunt Lydia, but we missed photos with them.
Mom and Dad gave me my first bath to get ready for my first doctors appointment.

The next day we ventured out of the house for our first outing. Mom and Dad took me to the pediatrician and I had a great check up. Dr. Johnson said I had good color and no signs of jaundice. He also said the my weight loss was average and I should start to gain back the few ounces I had lost within the next few days. After a month I should be back to my birth weight. Dr. Johnson said I should just eat, sleep and poop over the next several weeks and that he wanted to see me again when I was two weeks old.

But more than anything, mom and dad have just been enjoying having me around the house. The last two days have been quiet and peaceful. I've had some trouble sleeping through the night, but mom and dad are handling it just fine. I'm nursing like a champ, and I can burp as loud as dad! Dad wants to nickname me Super Soaker 500, because I've managed to pee on every changing pad and changing pad cover that we have.

This weekend I'm expecting a few more visitors. I'm really looking forward to meeting Lauren and Nate Young. They are going to be giving me my other best friend, Luke, in just a few short weeks. I'm really excited that they are taking a quick trip up to the area from Houston before Luke gets here. I also think mom and dad are going to try and take me to the grocery store tomorrow. Mom is ready to get out of the house again, and she thinks short outings are best at first. I'm sure there will be lots of people at the store who want to see me since mom used to work there.
Thanks for reading about my first week.
Love, Calvin
